Pep Guardiola, manager of Premier League club Manchester City, has expressed hope that striker Erling Haaland will recover and return to action before the Club World Cup.
Haaland injured his left ankle in the FA Cup quarterfinal against Bournemouth on March 30, 2025, forcing him to leave the match early. On March 31, insider Fabrizio Romano reported that the injury might sideline Haaland for the rest of the season, with a possible return only in June 2025, right before the Club World Cup.
I hope so. I think he will be able to play before the Club World Cup. It depends how they feel and how they recover.
In the 2024/2025 season, Haaland has played 28 Premier League matches, scoring 21 goals and making 3 assists. He has also appeared in 9 UEFA Champions League games, scoring 8 goals.
His current contract with Manchester City runs until June 2034. Transfermarkt estimates Haaland at 200 million euros.
On April 8, El Nacional reported that Haaland is considering leaving the club due to dissatisfaction with recent team results. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing him.
