On Thursday, September 18, the opening match of the group stage of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League took place, with Manchester City beating Napoli 2-0 at home.
Norwegian forward Erling Haaland scored one of City’s goals, and that strike was his 50th in the competition. He was 25 years and 59 days old at the time.
With that goal, Haaland became the second youngest player in Champions League history to reach 50 goals. The record still belongs to Argentine Lionel Messi, who was 24 years and 284 days old when he hit the mark.
The 25‑year‑old Norwegian has played for Manchester City since summer 2022. His contract with the club runs until summer 2032, and Transfermarkt estimates him at €180 million.
