Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi explained why he believes he deserves the Ballon d’Or for the 2024/25 season.
Achraf Hakimi, quoted by Canal+
There aren’t many players that have scored in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final as a defender, where it is more difficult. People think that I’m a forward or a midfielder, but I play in a back four and I have to think about defending. That is more difficult. The stats that I had this year aren’t those of a normal defender. If I have the possibility of winning it, I think I deserve it.
Last season Hakimi played 55 matches, scored 11 goals and provided 16 assists. France Football recently announced that Achraf has been included on the list of nominees for the award.
PSG’s 2024/25 season saw the club win the league, the French Cup and the French Super Cup, and also lift the Champions League. Their only loss in decisive finals was the Club World Cup final, where Paris were beaten by Chelsea.
