
The seventh round match of the Israeli Championship between Tel Aviv teams Hapoel and Maccabi was cancelled due to inappropriate fan behavior, according to Maccabi’s press service.
According to the website Ynet, before the match started, fans threw smoke bombs and pyrotechnics onto the field, severely impacting visibility. Following this, players from both teams left the pitch for the locker rooms, and later the police decided not to proceed with the game.
As a result of the incident, three law enforcement officers and twelve civilians were injured. More than ten people were detained for disturbing public order.
Currently, Maccabi rank second in the championship with 14 points, while Hapoel are third with 13 points.
