My condolences to the family... During my time working in Russia, we had several deep conversations. He was a humble man with many wonderful stories. I enjoyed spending time with him every time we met...
Simonyan won the USSR championship four times with Spartak as a player and twice as head coach.
In addition, he won the 1956 Summer Olympics as part of the USSR national team. Simonyan remains Spartak's all-time leading goalscorer with 160 goals.
