
Former Spartak Moscow head coach Guillermo Abascal offered his condolences to the family of Spartak and USSR national team legend Nikita Simonyan and shared that he used to invite him to the team's training sessions.

Of course, I knew Nikita Simonyan. I invited him to training so he could talk to our forwards. Nikita Pavlovich was very humble and gave the guys useful advice so they would score more goals. My condolences to Simonyan's family and loved ones.
Simonyan won the USSR championship four times with Spartak as a player and twice as head coach. In addition, he won the 1956 Summer Olympics as part of the USSR national team. Simonyan remains Spartak's all-time leading goalscorer with 160 goals.
