Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola addressed the situation surrounding goalkeeper Ederson, who missed the opening match of the Premier League season against Wolverhampton (4-0) due to health issues.
Pep Guardiola, quoted by the Mirror
Yesterday I saw he was unwell. The medical tests showed gastroenteritis. But I have always thought this way: if a player wants to leave the team, he should be allowed to do so. But it must happen under the club’s terms. If a player feels unhappy, there is no point in staying here. I have believed this ever since my time at Barcelona.
Earlier reports indicated interest from Galatasaray in the 31-year-old goalkeeper. Ederson has been with City since 2017, and his contract runs until the summer of 2026. Transfermarkt estimates him at €20 million.
