Chinonso Offor, Nigerian striker for Baltika, told Telecomasia.net in an exclusive interview about his time in the United States.
Honestly, that was a very hard time for me. Especially the first season. I had a lot of good games where almost everything worked out well. But the goals just didn't want to come! For me as a striker, a game without goals is not a game. I approached the next season very motivated. We had just changed the coach, and I thought that now everything would fall into place for me. However, I wasn't in the new coach's plans, so at first I had to sit on the bench.
"As soon as I got my first minutes, I managed to score! I thought I would get back into the starting lineup and start scoring. But instead I wouldn’t even make the matchday squad. In the end they just sent me to Montreal. I really liked Chicago. You could say the city became a second home for me. In the future I would like to return there," Offor said.
Offor joined MLS club Chicago Fire in November 2020, transferring from Latvian club RFS. His contract ran until the end of the 2023 season with an option to extend for 2024. During the 2021 season the forward took part in 34 league matches, starting 11 of them. He scored his first and only goal of his debut season on July 7, 2021, against Orlando City.
In his second season the Nigerian player saw less playing time with the first team. He played only 7 MLS matches, scoring one goal. At the same time Offor appeared for the reserve team Chicago Fire II in MLS Next Pro, where he scored two goals in three matches. In August 2022 the forward was traded to Canadian club Montreal.
