Indian National Team Passes on Ex-Barca Coach Xavi Due to Salary Demands

According to Sport.es, former Barcelona head coach Xavi was interested in taking over the Indian national team following the departure of Manolo Marquez.

However, the Indian Football Federation decided not to consider the Spanish coach's candidacy, realizing that his financial demands would be too high for the organization’s budget.

Xavi's last position was with Barcelona, where he managed the team from November 2021 until June 2024. Under his leadership, the Catalan club won the La Liga title in the 2022/2023 season and secured the Super Cup.

Prior to his tenure at Barcelona, Xavi spent three years as the head coach of Qatari club Al Sadd.

Previously, PSG head coach Luis Enrique criticized Barcelona's performance during Xavi's time in charge.
