IOC Announces Changes to 2028 Youth Olympics Program

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced changes to the program for the 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games, which will be hosted in the Dolomites Valtellina region of Italy.

The 2028 Games will be shorter than previous editions, with the number of participants reduced by 20%. The program will feature seven core winter Olympic sports: biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating, and skiing.

Additionally, organizers will introduce seven new disciplines, while 15 others will be removed.

The 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22 in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
