Newcastle winger Alexander Isak will miss the start of the new season because of ongoing transfer talks with Liverpool that have been widely reported in the media over the past month. This was reported by manager Eddie Howe.
Howe noted that under the current circumstances it is impossible to involve Isak in training and matches, while stressing that he wants the player in the squad and hopes he will be available in the future.
Earlier reports said Liverpool had offered £120 million for the player, but Newcastle rejected the bid.
In the 2024/25 season Isak played 42 matches in all competitions, scored 27 goals and provided six assists. Transfermarkt estimates him at €120 million.
