Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca expressed his outrage over the referee's decision to halt the match in the Round of 16 of the Club World Cup against Benfica (which ended 4-1) due to poor weather conditions.
Enzo Maresca quoted by ESPN
We didn’t concede anything; we created enough chances to win the game. Then, after the break, the game changed completely. For me personally, this is not football. It’s already been seven, eight, or nine games that have been suspended. Honestly, I think it's a joke. If you have to stop seven or eight games, it suggests this competition might not be in the right place.
This win allowed Chelsea to advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face Palmeiras, who secured a narrow victory over Botafogo with a score of 1-0.
