Japan's Defender Takai Joins Tottenham

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur announced that they have signed a contract with 20-year-old center-back Kota Takai, who previously played for J-League team Kawasaki Frontale.

It was reported that the defender, who has made four appearances for the Japan national team, has signed a deal with the London club until the end of June 2030.

Takai is a graduate of Kawasaki sports school. In the 2025 season, the center-back played 22 matches in the Japanese championship, scoring two goals, and participated in nine matches in the elite round of the AFC Champions League. Transfermarkt values Takai's market value at 2.5 million euros.

On June 16, The Guardian reported that 2024/2025 UEFA Europa League winners are interested in Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, who plays for the DR Congo national team.
