Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told The Athletic that he might never step back into a head coaching role.
After leaving Liverpool, Klopp has enjoyed sports, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoying life. While he once believed he would return to coaching, he now acknowledges the possibility that he may not.
At 58, if I started again at 65, everyone would say: “You said you wouldn’t do it anymore!” Well, sorry, but I meant it 100% when I said it.
Throughout his career, Klopp managed Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund – leading them twice to Bundesliga titles and the 2012–13 Champions League final – and Liverpool, whom he guided to the 2018-19 Champions League title and the 2020 Premier League championship.
Currently, Liverpool top the Premier League table with 15 points after six matches of the 2025-26 season. Their next fixture is against Chelsea on October 4 at 19:30 GMT+3.
