La Liga Club Fires Head Coach for First Time This Season

Spanish club Real Oviedo announced on their official website the dismissal of head coach Veljko Paunović, a 48-year-old Serbian. His assistants left the club as well.

The club expressed gratitude to Paunović and his staff for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment. Under their leadership, the team achieved a historic promotion to La Liga, a milestone that will remain memorable for fans.The club wished him success in his future career.

The new head coach is 46-year-old Spaniard Luis Carrión, who previously worked at Las Palmas until a year ago.

Paunović became Oviedo’s coach in March this year and led the team from Segunda to La Liga last season, returning to Spain’s top division after 24 years.

After eight rounds of this La Liga season, Oviedo are 17th with six points. Their next home match against Espanyol is scheduled for October 17 at 22:00 GMT+3.
