Liberian football player Nimely: George Weah is God's choice, I support him for president of the country

Liberian striker Sylvanus Nimely, 24, has spoken out about Liberian President George Weah, a former football player.

"I rarely visit Liberia and I haven't voted in the elections, but I support him. Politics is a very complicated subject, very controversial. I don't know if he's a good president. There are people who are for him and there are people who are against him. But I know that he's doing everything he can to help the people of his country," said Sylvanus.

Can a former football player make a good president? It's very rare because a lot of people stay in football. I think he's chosen by God to be the leader of the nation. When there was a war in the country, he played for Milan, but he came home and stopped the war. After his career ended, he started studying politics to help his country as president. George Weah is a very special man.

"How do people in Liberia feel about his son Timothy playing for the United States? Of course, they don't like it. But I don't think you can judge him because he didn't grow up in Liberia. Some people follow his career and are happy about Timothy's success," Nimely told Telecomasia.net.
Weah is the only African footballer to win the Ballon d'Or. The ex-footballer is known for his performances for Monaco, PSG, Milan, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Marseille. Weah has been the president of Liberia since January 2018.
