Lionel Messi, 2022 FIFA World Cup champion, 2008 Olympic gold medalist with Argentina, captain and forward for MLS club Inter Miami, and former Barcelona player, visited the newly renovated Camp Nou stadium.
The 38-year-old forward shared his impressions of the reconstructed home ground of the Blaugrana on his social media page.
Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul. A place where I was immensely happy, where you guys made me feel a thousand times the happiest person in the world. I hope one day I can come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I never got to.

It is worth noting that Messi, a graduate of La Masia, Barcelona’s famous academy, played for the club’s senior team from 2003 to 2021. During his time with the Blaugrana, he won ten La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League trophies, three UEFA Super Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cups.
On November 7, Barcelona players held an open training session at the renovated Camp Nou, attended by more than 20,000 fans. Following the event, club president Joan Laporta suggested that a special match in Messi’s honor would be a perfect occasion to officially inaugurate the rebuilt stadium.
