Liverpool could fine striker Hugo Ekitike for his sending-off in the 2-1 win over Southampton in the League Cup round of 32, according to the Daily Mail.
The forward may be fined an amount equal to two weeks’ wages. Ekitike scored the winning goal in the 85th minute but took off his shirt despite already having a yellow card. This led to a second caution and his dismissal one minute later. Thus, he will miss Liverpool's Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
Ekitike joined Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt in summer 2025. So far, in the 2025-26 season, he has played eight games across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
After five Premier League rounds, Liverpool lead the table with 15 points. The Crystal Palace game is scheduled for September 27 at 17:00 GMT+3.
