L'Equipe journalist Jean-Philippe Leclair commented on the performance of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov in recent matches for PSG and assessed his chances of becoming the Parisian club's primary goalkeeper.

Safonov's last three matches have greatly pleased the PSG management and fans. But this does not mean that he will remain the first-choice goalkeeper after Lucas Chevalier fully recovers from his injury. Enrique wanted to see Chevalier in the starting lineup. He values his skills, especially his tactical awareness and work with the ball.
“Enrique is ready to give Chevalier time to establish himself in the team because he is still young. Therefore, if Safonov becomes the starting player, it will be a huge surprise for everyone," Leclair told Telecomasia.net.
Safonov has played three matches for PSG this season, two of which were clean sheets. In total, the 26-year-old Russian has 19 matches for the Parisian team, where he has conceded 15 goals.
