According to The Athletic, referencing part-owner Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United's management is planning to begin construction of a new stadium to replace Old Trafford.
Reports indicate that the Manchester club officials will make an announcement soon. The new stadium is expected to have a capacity of 100,000 spectators. Currently, Old Trafford has been the club's home since 1910 and can accommodate 74,310 fans.
The likelihood of building a new stadium instead of renovating the existing one was reported by The Telegraph on July 29, 2024. On August 7 of that year, it was noted that demolishing Old Trafford was not planned even if the new stadium was built, and the legendary venue would continue to host matches for the women's and youth teams of Manchester United, albeit with a significant reduction in capacity to 30,000 seats.
After 28 matches in the 2024/2025 Premier League season, Ruben Amorim's team has gathered 34 points and currently sits in fourteenth place in the league table.
