Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has strongly criticized Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.
Wayne Rooney for the Daily Mail
I think the last week has shown that when it's gone well, you're scoring goals and you're winning games, it's great and the team will put up with that, but over the last week, I'd question his work ethic. I know he doesn't always get back and defend as much, but in the Chelsea game, his full-back is getting torn apart, and he is watching. He has looked a little bit lost the past week, in my opinion.
Salah has played for Liverpool since July 2017. This season, he has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 10 matches across all competitions. His contract runs until summer 2027. Transfermarkt estimates the 33-year-old at €50 million.
After seven Premier League rounds this season, Liverpool have 15 points and sit second in the standings.
Liverpool will face Manchester United in the next round on October 19 at 18:30 GMT+3.
