In the round of 16 match of the 2023 Leagues Cup (MLS+MX) Messi increased the number of his team's goals to seven. Thus, the Argentine moved up to fourth place in the ranking of the club's top scorers, equal in number of goals with Josef Martinez, Lewis Morgan and Rodolfo Pizarro.
Inter Miami's leader in goals is Messi's compatriot and Leo's ex-Argentina teammate Gonzalo Higuaín with 29 goals.
Messi has been playing for Inter Miami since July 15, 2023. The Argentine has played four matches for the American team.
