Argentina striker Lionel Messi, 35, was photographed with the World Cup trophy in the national team's locker room after beating France 3-3, 4-2 on penalties in the 2022 World Cup final.

Messi had earlier said he would end his career with the national team after the 2022 World Cup final, but after winning the tournament he said he hadn't yet made a final decision and still plans to play for the national team.

Messi won the World Cup for the first time with Argentina, which last won the World Cup in 1986. In 2014, the Argentine reached the final of the World Cup with the team, where the team narrowly lost to Germany.
