
The Major League Soccer Players Association released the latest salary data for league players as of early October 2025. Leading the list of highest-paid players remains Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi.
The Argentine’s annual income is $20.4 million. Second place goes to Son Heung-min, who joined Los Angeles this summer with a salary of $11.2 million per year.
Third in the ranking is Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets, earning $8.8 million annually. The top five highest-paid also include Miguel Almirón (Atlanta United, $6.1 million) and Hirving Lozano (San Diego, $6 million).
Inter Miami spend the most on player salaries in MLS, allocating a record $48.97 million. Los Angeles rank second with $30.1 million, followed by Atlanta with $28.48 million. The lowest payroll belongs to Montreal Impact at $12.92 million.
