Journalist José Álvarez Haya reports that English club Newcastle United plan to sign Barcelona and Spain midfielder Fermín López for €100 million.
If the move happens, Fermín López’s salary would reportedly quadruple. Media sources say he currently earns about €6 million per season before taxes.
Tottenham have also entered the race for the Barcelona academy graduate, and Chelsea have shown interest in the player in the past.
Last season López played 46 matches for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists. His contract with the Catalan club runs until summer 2029. Transfermarkt values the 22-year-old Spaniard at €50 million.
Fermín López helped Barcelona win the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup last season.
