Nice Player Calling For 'Black Day For Jews' Appeals Against Court Verdict

Nice defender Youcef Atal, who received a suspended sentence on charges of hate speech, intends to appeal the court decision, RMC Sport reports.

According to the source, the footballer received a suspended eight-month sentence.

On October 25, the disciplinary commission of the French Ligue 1 decided to punish the 27-year-old Algerian with a long term suspension for the publication of a controversial post on social networks amid the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Earlier, the club also decided to suspend the player. In the current season, Atal played six matches in the French Ligue 1, scoring one goal.
