Athletic Bilbao and Spanish national team winger Nico Williams has reportedly shortened his vacation to facilitate a swift transfer to FC Barcelona, as per Sport.es.
Sources report that the payment of the buyout clause and the finalization of negotiations are scheduled for Friday, June 4. Barcelona have successfully convinced both Nico Williams and his agent that there will be no issues with player registration.
Recently, it was revealed that last week, Barcelona and Nico Williams reached a verbal agreement regarding a six-year contract and salary terms.
However, while preparing the documents, the representatives of the 22-year-old player unexpectedly demanded to include additional terms related to registration guarantees in the contract, which caught Barcelona's management off guard.
Nico Williams is a product of Athletic Bilbao's youth academy and has been playing for the first team since July 2021. He has made 167 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 30 assists. His contract with the Bilbao club runs until the summer of 2027, and his transfer value is estimated at 70 million euros according to Transfermarkt.
In the last season, Barcelona secured victories in the championship, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España.
