Perez Welcomes Alonso as New Real Madrid Coach

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has commented on the appointment of Xabi Alonso as head coach of Real Madrid.

The Spanish specialist was officially appointed to the new position on May 25, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti as the head of Real Madrid. Previously Alonso won the Bundesliga, the Spanish Cup and the Super Cup as Bayer coach.

Florentino Perez quoted by Marca
Today, you come back to Real Madrid as first-team coach to tackle one of the greatest challenges in your life so far. You will be backed by fans who love and admire you. You are well aware of the demands of this club, with its relentless hunger for titles a never-say-die attitude. We're convinced we'll share in many more joys together.

As a player, Alonso played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2014, playing 230 matches, winning one La Liga and one Champions League.
