More than 70 athletes have joined human rights organizations in calling on UEFA to exclude Israel from all competitions over violations of Palestinian rights, according to Al Jazeera.
Open letter of Athletes 4 Peace
No shared venue, stage, or arena in international civil society should welcome a regime that commits genocide, apartheid, and other crimes against humanity. Israel’s continued impunity for such crimes will only be ended by the weight of collective conscientious action, including measures to block their entry to sporting or cultural events and activities.
In an open letter addressed to UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, the group Athletes 4 Peace, consisting of over 70 professional athletes, expressed solidarity with demands to sever ties with the Israel Football Association. Among the signatories are prominent players including Paul Pogba of Monaco, Hakim Ziyech of Wydad, and Adama Traoré of Fulham.
