Michal Probierz, who held the post of head coach of the Poland national football team, announced his resignation. This was reported by the press service of the Polish Football Union (PZPN).
Probierz's decision followed the statement of Robert Lewandowski, striker of the Polish national team. The 36-year-old footballer said he would not play for the national team as long as it is managed by Probierz. The conflict between the coach and the forward arose after Probierz stripped Lewandowski of the captain's armband.
Probierz commented on his resignation, stating that it was the best decision for the benefit of the national team in the current situation. He emphasized that working in the Polish national team was the greatest honor for him and allowed him to fulfill his professional dream.
Recall that in the latest match of the qualifying tournament for the World Cup 2026, the Polish national team lost to Finland with a score of 1:2. After three matches, the Polish team is in third place in Group G with six points.
Michal Probierz took charge of the Polish national team in September 2023. Under his leadership, the team played 21 matches, winning 10, losing seven and drawing four times.
