Polish specialist Michał Probierz will soon take the post of head coach of Kazakhstan’s national football team, reports Kanał Sportowy citing journalist Mateusz Borek.
Currently, the team is temporarily led by Talgat Baysufinov. Before him, Ali Aliyev served as acting coach.
Probierz left his role as head coach of Poland’s national team in the summer of 2025. During his tenure, he made a controversial decision to strip Robert Lewandowski of the captain’s armband. In response, the Barcelona star refused to play for the national team.
Without Lewandowski, Poland lost 1-2 to Finland in a 2026 World Cup qualifier. Two days after that defeat, the Polish football federation terminated Probierz’s contract.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Kazakhstan has played five matches, earned three points, and currently holds fourth place in Group J.
