Postecoglou Is First Nottingham Coach in 100 Years Without a Win in First 6 Matches

On Thursday, October 2, Nottingham Forest played Midtjylland in the second round of the UEFA Europa League 2025-26 group stage. The Danish club won 3-2.

After the match, it was revealed that Angelos Postecoglou, who replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as Nottingham’s head coach, had gone six matches in a row without a win (two draws and four losses).

He is the first Nottingham coach in 100 years who failed to win any of his first six games.

The last time this happened was in 1925, when John Baynes failed to win any of his first seven matches.

Nottingham Forest currently hold 25th place in the UEFA Europa League group stage standings with one point. Midtjylland are second with six points.

In the third round, Nottingham will host Porto on October 23, while Midtjylland face Maccabi Tel Aviv that same day.
