Premier League Clubs Spent Four to Five Times More Per Transfer Than Other Top Leagues

English Premier League clubs had the largest and most record-breaking transfer window in history.

This summer, Premier League teams spent a record €3.6 billion on new players, surpassing the combined spending of all clubs in Serie A, the Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.

The English league also led Europe by average fee per transfer. According to Football Meets Data, the average price of a single signing in the Premier League reached €22.2 million. By comparison, Bundesliga clubs spent an average €6.2 million, Serie A €5.5 million, La Liga €4.3 million, and Ligue 1 just €4.2 million per player.

Earlier reports also noted that Manchester United are enduring their worst Premier League start since the 1992-93 season.
