PSG President Urges Real Madrid to Leave the Super League Project

PSG President and European Club Association (ECA) head Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in an interview with Goal, called on Real Madrid to withdraw from the Super League project.

According to him, UEFA currently organizes the best club tournaments with the best formats. The organization wants all teams to return, including Real Madrid, as it is their home.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi
Today, we have the best club tournaments with the best formats. This is what we want, what Barcelona has wanted until now.

In October 2025, Barcelona President Joan Laporta, who previously supported the creation of the Super League, announced his intention to leave the project and strengthen cooperation with UEFA.

In April 2021, leaders of several clubs officially confirmed their commitment to the idea of creating the Super League. Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez became the first chairman of the planned tournament.

After two rounds of the group stage of the 2025-26 Champions League season, Bayern Munich lead the table with six points. Real Madrid are second, while PSG are third with the same number of points.
