Record: Liverpool to Pay Diogo Jota’s Family the Whole Sum of His Contract

According to Record, Premier League club Liverpool will pay the family of the late forward Diogo Jota the full amount owed under his contract through the end of June 2027.

On July 3, Jota and his brother André Silva tragically died in a car accident in the province of Zamora in western Spain. Jota, who was 28 years old, is survived by his wife and three children. On the same day, it was announced that the Merseyside club would retire the number 20 jersey in memory of the Portuguese player.

Daily Mail reported on July 4 that Jota will be laid to rest in his home country.

Liverpool, along with clubs like Porto, Sporting, Zenit, and Al-Hilal, as well as numerous prominent athletes, have expressed their condolences to Jota's family, honoring the player who was a champion in the 2024/2025 season and a two-time UEFA Nations League winner (2018/2019, 2024/2025).
