Ronaldo Faces Punishment For Obscene Gesture After Messi Chant

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported that the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) disciplinary committee has launched an investigation into an incident involving Al-Nassr striker and Portuguese national team player Cristiano Ronaldo.

On February 25th, the Knights of Najd defeated Al-Shabab 3-2 away in the 21st round of the Pro League. 39-year-old "CR7" scored a penalty in the 21st minute of the match. After the final whistle, he turned towards the White Lion’s fans section and made a gesture towards his groin area in response to chants of Messi's name coming from the Inter Miami forward's fans.

According to sources, the decision regarding Ronaldo's punishment will be made by the federation's disciplinary committee in the next few days.

In the 2023/2024 season, Ronaldo played 20 matches for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabian league, scoring 22 goals and providing nine assists. His contract with Al-Nassr will run until June 2025. According to Transfermarkt data the veteran's market value is 15 million euros.
