He revealed that his children, who are Spanish, often teased him by claiming that the title would go to Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo quoted by Madrid Universal
My children are Spanish. They joke with me at home and to annoy me they tell me: "The trophy is for Spain". Now they will respect me more (laughs),” Madrid Universal quoted Ronaldo as saying.

In the final, the Portuguese played the Spaniards to a 2-2 draw and then won on penalties 5-3. Ronaldo scored a goal, but was forced to leave the field in the 88th minute due to injury. This trophy was third for him in the national team.
