Ronaldo's Sister Responds to Criticism Over the Player’s Absence at Jota's Funeral

Katia Aveiro, sister of Al-Nassr and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo, has addressed the criticism directed at her brother for not attending the funeral of Diogo Jota.

The farewell ceremony for the former Liverpool player was held on Saturday, July 5, at the Church of Gondomar, near Porto. Many players from Liverpool and the Portugal national team attended the ceremony, but Ronaldo was notably absent.

The criticism for nothing, I repeat nothing... Sick society... We all have families. It is absurdly shameful to watch TV channels/commentators/social networks emphasising an absence (wise) rather than respectfully honouring the pain of a mutilated family destroyed by the loss of two brothers.

Diogo Jota tragically died in a car accident on July 3. His last career match was the UEFA Nations League final, where he, alongside Ronaldo, helped defeat the Spanish national team.
