There were no attempts to buy Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid this summer, according to Cadena SER. While clubs in the Saudi Pro League are still interested, no official steps have been taken to sign the star from los Blancos.
Sources report that Omar Ruben, CEO of AKHS Sports, explained the drop in transfer activity as a shift in priorities, with funds being directed towards preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Additionally, many players, including Vinicius, are unwilling to sacrifice a high level of competition for financial incentives alone.
The 24-year-old's contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2027, and negotiations for an extension have currently stalled due to disagreements over financial terms.
In the concluded 2024/25 season, Vinicius played 58 matches for Real, scored 22 goals, and provided 19 assists. He was recognized as the FIFA World Player of the Year for 2024.
