Serie A President Wants Match in Australia

Serie A president Ezio Simonelli wants to hold one of the 2025–26 season matches in Australia. The league is negotiating to move the Round 24 game Milan vs. Como.

Ezio Simonelli
There are no developments yet, we are still waiting for UEFA’s approval, which we hope will arrive by the end of the month. I understand it is not an easy trip though I know some fans will use it as an opportunity to visit a continent they don’t know. We have a big base of Italian supporters and as a league, we have the responsibility to increase the visibility of our product in countries where there is demand. Let’s wait a little longer…

The Milan vs. Como match is scheduled for February 8, 2026. It is expected that San Siro, where the match should take place, will be closed from January 10 until early February for preparations for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Until now, no Serie A game has ever been played outside Italy.
