Snipers Guarded Club World Cup Match Due to Former President Vance’s Visit

The group stage match of the Club World Cup between Borussia Dortmund and South Korea's Ulsan, held in Cincinnati, Ohio, saw heightened security measures due to the presence of U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

According to L'Équipe, snipers were stationed on the stadium roof, while Secret Service personnel were positioned around the perimeter and all entrants were screened with sniffer dogs. Vance arrived in a convoy, and adjacent streets were blocked off with metal barriers.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino also attended the match but sat in a regular section, while Vance was in a separate VIP box.

The game ended with a 1-0 victory for Borussia. It was watched by 8,239 spectators. The German team secured first place in Group F and advanced to the playoffs.
