Former England manager Gareth Southgate intends to turn down an offer to become Manchester United’s head coach if the club approaches him after a possible Ruben Amorim dismissal, reports Mirror.
Sources say the Red Devils considered Southgate’s candidacy in March 2024, but he was preparing England for the European Championship at that time.
Southgate is in no rush to return to coaching and will carefully review any offers.
Southgate managed England from 2016 to 2024, leading the team to two European Championship finals.
Ruben Amorim has managed Manchester United since November 2024, under a two-year contract with an option for an additional season.
After six rounds this season, Manchester United are 14th with seven points. Their next match is at home against Sunderland on October 4, starting at 17:00 GMT+3.
