Spanish Football Federation Comments On Barcelona Winger Yamal’s Injury

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on its official site that Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been withdrawn from Spain’s national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria due to injury.

The RFEF medical staff requested an update on the player’s condition on Thursday, October 2. On the morning of Friday, October 3, Barcelona reported that Yamal is experiencing groin discomfort.

This information came after the squad announcement, so Yamal will leave the Spanish camp to focus on recovery.

Previously, Barcelona stated Yamal would miss two to three weeks because of the injury.

The 18-year-old winger has 23 caps for Spain, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists. He was part of Spain’s winning squad at Euro 2024.
