Uruguayan forward Luis Suárez of Inter Miami spat at a Seattle Sounders staff member after the Leagues Cup final.
The Seattle vs. Inter Miami match took place on August 31 at Lumen Field in Seattle and ended with a 3–0 victory for the hosts.
Following the final whistle a large brawl broke out on the pitch involving players, coaches and staff from both teams. During a verbal altercation, 38‑year‑old Suárez spat in the face of a Seattle staff member.
The Leagues Cup is an annual North American tournament contested since 2019 by MLS clubs (U.S. and Canada) and Liga MX clubs (Mexico). Last season’s winner were the Columbus Crew.
