The TEAMtalk website reported that Ange Postecoglou could take charge of the English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool in the event of Arne Slot's resignation as head coach of the Merseyside team.
According to available information, the 47-year-old Dutchman still retains the support of Liverpool's management despite the Reds' crisis. However, the club bosses consider 60-year-old Postecoglou a worthy candidate to replace Slot.
Postecoglou has been unemployed since October 2025 after being sacked by another EPL club, Nottingham Forest.
Slot took over Liverpool in May 2024 and led the Merseyside team to the EPL championship title for the 2024-2025 season. In the current season, Liverpool sits in twelfth place in the English league standings, having collected 18 points after 12 rounds. Furthermore, after five matches in the UEFA Champions League group stage, the team is in thirteenth place with nine points. On November 26, the Reds lost 1-4 to the Netherlands' PSV on the pitch at Anfield Stadium.
