
According to The Sun newspaper, the English Premier League (EPL) club Aston Villa is looking for a replacement for Argentina goalkeeper and 2022 World Cup champion Emiliano Martinez if he leaves during the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to reports, the 32-year-old Villans goalkeeper could be replaced by Irishman Caoimhín Kelleher from Liverpool. Meanwhile, Chelsea and West Ham United are also interested in the 26-year-old goalkeeper, as Kelleher aims to get more playing time and is considering a move to a new club.
Besides, Aston Villa are considering Espanyol's Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who is also being tracked by Barcelona.
In the season-2024/2025 Martinez played 36 matches in the EPL, where he conceded 45 goals, and kept eight clean sheets, as well as 12 matches in the UEFA Champions League (12 goals conceded, five clean sheets). The current contract of the Argentine goalkeeper with Villa is valid until the end of June 2029, and the Transfermarkt website estimates the market value of the player at 25 million euros.
On April 20, the Daily Star reported that Manchester United are considering the transfer of England striker Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
