Wojciech Szczęsny, the 35-year-old Polish goalkeeper for Barcelona, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the aggressive playing style implemented by German coach Hans-Dieter Flick.

This isn’t my kind of football. What Barcelona did last season was remarkable. For the fans, it looks great. But it's not my kind of football, and even success doesn't change the way I see the style I prefer. But as I said, it's not serious criticism. It’s just my opinion. I'm a goalkeeper. And when we're leading 4–0, and the guys are so eager to make it 5–0, forgetting everything else, it's frustrating. A goalkeeper also wants to keep a clean sheet. But the guys want to keep scoring and enjoying themselves, and for me, that’s tough.
Szczęsny has been with Barcelona since October 2024, playing a total of 30 matches, conceding 36 goals, and securing 14 clean sheets. His contract with the club runs until the summer of 2026. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at one million euros.
It’s worth noting that in his debut season, Barcelona won all three domestic trophies: the league title, the Cup, and the Super Cup of Spain.
Previously, the Catalan club announced an extension of Hans-Dieter Flick's contract until 2027. The German coach has been leading Barcelona since May 2024.
