According to Telecomasia.net, Spartak defender Yuriy Koledin will not join Croatian champions Rijeka, although he previously completed a successful trial with the club. The sides had been negotiating over the 20‑year‑old defender, but the deal was canceled after American investors entered Rijeka.
Earlier reports said Rijeka were sold to the U.S. sports investment group Black Knight Football Club (BKFC), led by billionaire Bill Foley. An official announcement on the deal is expected in the coming days.
Alongside the blocked move for Koledin, Rijeka also halted the transfer of Bosnia’s international central defender Stjepan Radeljić to Sochi. Radeljić, 27, has Champions League group‑stage experience. The clubs had agreed that he would join the Russian team after Rijeka’s European qualifying was complete, but that preliminary agreement was later overturned and the Croatian club refused to sell him to Sochi.
After the transfer to Rijeka was derailed, Koledin may move to another Russian Premier League club. If a transfer cannot be arranged, the defender could continue his career at Chaika.
