UEFA has sanctioned Madrid's Atletico due to the conduct of their fans during the away fixture of Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League group stage against London's Arsenal.
The decision was made by the organization's control, ethics and disciplinary body, according to the publication AS.
According to the source, the Spanish club is accused of racist and discriminatory behavior of individual fans. Atletico are fined 30,000 euros and given a one-match conditional ban on selling away tickets for the tournament.
It is noted that the sanction will be effective for one year. Should the incidents be repeated, it will automatically come into force. Furthermore, the Madrid club is additionally fined 10,000 euros for the throwing of objects onto the field.
Despite the warning, Atletico supporters will still be able to travel to the upcoming away matches against PSV (December 9) and Galatasaray (January 21). However, any repeated violation will lead to the immediate application of the sanctions.
Currently, Madrid's Atletico sit in 12th place in the overall UEFA Champions League table, having earned nine points after five matches played.
