
Israeli football and sports circles are worried that Israel could be suspended from participating in European competitions until further notice, Israelhayom reports. UEFA could make a decision on September 23.
According to the report, the vast majority of the 20 countries with voting rights support excluding Israel. Two or three countries are reportedly opposed.
The Israel Football Association (IFA) is trying to prevent the issue from being placed on the agenda. Authorities in the country understand that if the matter goes to a vote, local teams’ participation in European football would be stopped, at least for the foreseeable future.
Israel took part in the 2024-25 Nations League. The national team finished fourth in Group A2 with France, Italy and Belgium and was relegated to League B.
